If Veteran has a Department of Defense issued identification card (DoD ID), the Veteran may access base using their DoD issued ID, without needing to follow below access instructions.

VA Beneficiaries, guests, or private companies who have not been issued a DoD ID, Retiree ID, etc., will need the following required documents to gain access to Fort Carson:

  1. Valid Real-ID Driver’s License
  2. Vehicle registration and insurance
  3. For VA Beneficiaries only: Valid Veteran’s Health Identification Card (VHIC)

Access can be requested in two ways (must have above required documents):

  1. Visiting the pre-registration website (accessible via computer, mobile device or smart phone) – once pre-registered proceed through gate 1 by presenting driver’s license at the gate.
  2. Visiting Fort Carson Visitor Center at 6012 Nelson Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80902.

**For those without a base access pass and in need of immediate emergency care, Fort Carson Directorate of Emergency Services will proceed with base emergency protocol guidance to ensure medical needs and safety are both addressed.**

Upon entering the post from the Fort Carson Visitor Center (Gate 1), take the first exit on the round-about onto Harr Ave. Stay on Harr Ave for 1.5 miles until you see Evans Army Community Hospital. Follow the signs to the Emergency Department.

Hours:
Gate 1 is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Emergency care

In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest VA or non-VA emergency department. We provide immediate treatment for serious, life-threatening health emergencies such as severe chest pain, seizures, heavy uncontrollable bleeding or moderate to severe burns.

The service hours are the same as our facility hours.

We provide emergency medical care 24 hours a day, every day. Our emergency room staff can help you with:

  • Life-threatening illnesses and injuries that require immediate attention
  • Urgent medical issues that must be treated right away
  • Psychiatric evaluations

Mission Act will cover you at non-VA Emergency Rooms. You must call 1-844-724-7842 or email
VHAEmergencyNotification@va.gov within 72 hours of receiving care.
