Dr. Chitra Rajagopalan MD, FCAP

She has served as Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service since 1995 and as a Professor of Pathology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. With over three decades of service to Veterans and the academic community, she has contributed extensively to national VA initiatives, including policy development, accreditation standards, and clinical excellence programs.

Her leadership extends across the College of American Pathologists (CAP) as Deputy Regional Commissioner, West Central Region, and the VHA Central Office Field Advisory Board. Dr. Rajagopalan’s numerous awards, among them the Pathologist of the Year (University of Colorado, 2021), Joint Commission Recognition for Exceptional Leadership, and a personal commendation from the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, reflect her steadfast commitment to excellence, mentorship, and patient-centered care.
