During a fishing trip three years ago, Army Veteran David Krall, of Colorado Springs, noticed his balance slipping. As a forward observer in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971, the long-term impact of chemical exposures was not often considered.
The VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) hosted its 2023 VetFest at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center and celebrated the center’s five-year anniversary in Aurora, Colo., on July 21.

California native Susan Ashby graduated high school with a plan. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, an uncommon career path for a woman in 1976. From tech school in San Antonio, to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, to an overseas extended tour in Germany, Ashby worked as an administrative assistant before establishing herself in education.

VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) opened a facility space April 7 that more than doubled the size of a VA clinic, the first of several area projects making way this year for additional VA services in Colorado Springs.
“All of a sudden I had a World War II Veteran come to the mental health desk and ask, ‘Can you tell me how I can get a quilt?’,” said Scott Beaver, a medical support assistant in VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS).
VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) teamed up with numerous organizations Sept. 23 to offer gifts and support to women Veterans who are pregnant or have given birth in the past year.
