Dr. Peggy Kim began serving as the VA EKHCS Chief of Staff on March 9, 2025.
Dr. Kim obtained a BA in Psychology at Princeton University, an MS in Clinical Psychology at Northwestern University, and an MBA in Health Sector Management at DePaul University. She completed her MD at Case Western Reserve University, a preliminary internal medicine year at Akron General Medical Center, residency training. in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University, and an interventional pain fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine.
After fellowship, Dr. Kim became an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she initiated a Cancer Pain clinic, precepted medical students-and served as the residency rotation director and Assistant Program Director for the pain fellowship. She joined the VA Puget Sound Health Care System as the Pain Director and was appointed as Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Washington. She transitioned to the role of Associate Chief of Staff for Education at the VA Puget Sound and was promoted to Clinical Professor. She has been involved with research for decades in a variety of roles, including Principal Investigator. She continues to serve as chair and/or a member of multiple national Pain Management, Opioid Safety and PDMP (PMOP) committees. She is excited to join the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System as the Chief of Staff, furthering the mission of providing world-class care for our Veterans.
