On June 2, 2025, Dr. Derek Bryant was appointed as the Interim Chief of Staff for the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks.

Dr. Bryant brings over 25 years of medical experience to our facility. After completing his residency in Family Medicine, he spent 18 years in solo family practice while also working in emergency medicine. In 2017, he transitioned full-time to Emergency Medicine at the VAMC in Little Rock, where he served as Service Chief for six years. Currently, he holds an executive position at the facility as Deputy Chief of Staff, where he is responsible for facility clinical operations and assisting the clinical service chiefs in their journey to leadership success within the VA. He now joins us as VHSO’s Interim Chief of Staff.

Dr. Bryant is passionate about mentorship, believing it to be a vital but often missing piece in both the VA and our country. He actively seeks opportunities to guide and teach medical students, residents, and emerging leaders. Outside of work, Dr. Bryant is a devoted husband of 32 years, a proud father of two adult children, and enjoys ATV riding and deer hunting when time allows.
