University of Arkansas Panhellenic Counsel Donates over 4,000 food items to VHSO:

Northwest Arkansas philanthropic organization recently set out to change a significant problem affecting our region: Namely, the fact that food insecurity currently disproportionately affects our area Veterans.
In an inspiring display of community service and commitment to our Nation’s heroes, the University of Arkansas PanHellenic Counsel, organized a massive food donation event. With the help of all University of Arkansas sororities, the Counsel contributed over 4000 food items to the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks in advance of Veterans Day.
“The donation of over 4,000 food items is not just about filling a pantry—it's about providing dignity and stability for Veterans,” said VHSO Health Behavioral Coordinator, Caroline Dotson, LCSW. "We are incredibly grateful for the generous food donation to our Veterans. This donation comes at a crucial time, as Arkansas faces a trifecta of food insecurity—stemming from its rural geography, the unique vulnerabilities of Veterans to food insecurity, and the state's overall struggle with hunger. These young women have given us a shining example of what can be done with unified community-driven support for our Veterans.
Panhellenic President Katherine Ford said, “Every month we donate time or resources to our community,” “This month we were inspired to help VHSO because of Veterans Day It took weeks of planning, collection, and coordination to collect such a large donation. Our goal was to donate 1500 items, but the sororities far surpassed our goal.”
The donation, which included non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, and packaged meals, was delivered to the Fayetteville VA Medical Center in Advance of Veterans Day .Panhellenic President Ford Added, “We are proud support to those who have served our country and need a helping hand. We will definitely be donating food to Veterans again.”
