The Fayetteville VA Medical Center, in collaboration with the City of Fayetteville, will host a Community Homeless Stand Down on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Festival Park, located near downtown. This event provides an opportunity for area homeless Veterans at risk of homelessness to access essential support services.

Designed to connect Veterans with agencies that can positively impact their lives, the event will proceed regardless of weather conditions. While some services may be exclusive to Veterans, the event welcomes all individuals facing homelessness. Resource and hygiene kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis; however, select items, resources and services will be reserved strictly for homeless Veterans.

Participants can expect to receive a range of services, including medical screenings, information on Veteran services, housing assistance, job placement resources, and various community services. Additionally, lunch will be provided, and FAST (Fayetteville Area System of Transit) will offer transportation to and from the event. Free haircuts and manicures will also be available.

Veterans seeking VA services are encouraged to bring identification, such as a VA card or DD214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), if available.

For more info, contact Fayetteville VAMC Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program, at (910) 488-2120, ext. 207744.
