COVID vaccines available at Southeastern North Carolina VA clinics starting September 30
PRESS RELEASE
September 27, 2024
Fayetteville , NC — No-cost COVID vaccines will be offered at Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System medical facilities starting September 30.
The Fayetteville VA Medical Center will offer the COVID vaccines starting October 8. In addition to the 2024-2025 COVID vaccine, Veterans may receive their flu vaccine at the same time. This year, the health system will offer the 2024-2025 Moderna COVID vaccine. This vaccine can be taken even if you have previously received the Pfizer COVID vaccine previously.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), it is especially important to get your 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine if you are ages 65 and older, are at high risk for severe COVID-19, or have never received a COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccine protection decreases over time, so it is important to stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccine. CDC says for most people the minimum interval between their last 2023–2024 COVID-19 vaccine dose and their 2024–2025 vaccine dose is 2 months. However, there are exceptions for those who are completing an initial vaccination series, including children aged 6 months–4 years and those with moderate to severe immunocompromise.
September and October remain the best times for most people to get a flu shot, and vaccination continues to be recommended while the flu virus circulates, typically from October through May.
