Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans

Meeting Presentations - May 6 - 7, 2009

The Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans met at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Washington, D.C. on May 6 - 7, 2009. The members met with a panel comprised of outreach experts from the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration, National Cemetery Administration, Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, and the VA Strategic Communication Council. Each representative talked about their respective outreach programs and planned initiatives. The Committee also met with the Chief Legislative Counsel of the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America about its mission. Additionally, the Committee received briefings on Gulf War Illnesses research and the Post Deployment Integrated Care Initiative and took public comments from Veterans and Veterans' family members. The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing member recommendations for the final report.
