Homeless Veteran Stand Down

Eduvigis Woods and Makayla Martin from Social Work Service supporting Veterans
By John Rogers, Public Affairs Officer

The event represents a collaborative initiative made possible by Veterans Affairs, numerous community partners, and our dedicated, hardworking volunteers. We gathered with a shared mission: to ensure that every veteran who enters these doors receives the support, dignity, and care they deserve.

Throughout the day, Veterans had access to a variety of essential services. We provided meals, showers, haircuts,
clothing, and household items—all aimed at helping them feel valued, comfortable, and cared for. For some, these
simple comforts can be the first steps toward rebuilding their confidence and hope. However, the event served a purpose beyond just addressing immediate needs. It offered veterans a chance to connect directly with Veterans Affairs and community organizations. Our committed staff and partners were on hand to share vital information regarding veterans' benefits, health services, job training, and other support options that may have previously been difficult to access. This event was crafted to bridge those gaps, making resources available to veterans in a manner that is both supportive and approachable.
