Congratulations to the Hampton VA Medical Center on achieving the significant milestone of enhancing access to Women’s Health!

Starting on November 20th, the Women’s Clinic will offer Mammography services to Veterans, marking a remarkable achievement that underscores a strong commitment to addressing the unique healthcare needs of our female Veterans. By expanding services and enhancing accessibility, the center ensures that women receive the comprehensive care they deserve within a supportive environment.

This initiative not only elevates the quality of healthcare but also fosters a sense of belonging and community among women Veterans. The dedication of the staff in advocating for and implementing these changes is commendable, reflecting a profound understanding of the challenges faced by female patients. Access to specialized care is vital for promoting overall health and well-being, making this expansion a crucial advancement.

As we celebrate this achievement, we also recognize the ongoing efforts required to dismantle barriers and ensure equitable healthcare for all. This expansion exemplifies the power of collaboration and innovation in healthcare, and we look forward to the positive impact it will have on the lives of our women Veterans. Once again, congratulations on this significant development in women’s healthcare at the Hampton VA Health Care System!

## Goals and Future Plans

The objective is to conduct approximately 1,200 to 1,400 mammograms at the Women's Clinic each year. With two units available at the main hospital, we aim to enhance access and reduce wait times for screening mammograms. Additionally, a unit will soon be established at North Battlefield (NB) to further improve accessibility.

Note:  The Hampton VA Health Care System serves the fastest-growing women’s population, making it essential for Veterans to receive the care they deserve in a timely and efficient manner. Early detection is key, and this unit will facilitate quicker identification of abnormalities, leading to prompt treatment.
