Houston VA will commemorate four Army Chaplains of different faiths who joined together and sacrificed themselves to save others when their ship, the USAT Dorchester, was sunk by a U-boat on February 3, 1943.

Through the pandemonium, the chaplains spread out among the Soldiers, calming the frightened, tending the wounded and guiding the disoriented toward safety.

  • Lt. George Fox, a Methodist;
  • Lt. Alexander Goode, a Jewish Rabbi;
  • Lt. John Washington, a Roman Catholic Priest;
  • Lt. Clark Poling, a Dutch Reformed minister.

Guest Speaker: Linda Burger, Holocaust Museum Houston
