- Why VA Houston: The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center stood out to me during my residency search due to its diverse and robust rotation opportunities across both inpatient and ambulatory care settings. I am drawn to the prospect of becoming a well-rounded clinical pharmacist practitioner while serving a population that has selflessly served our country. As someone with a strong interest in infectious diseases, I was particularly impressed by the Houston VA’s offerings in this area—including rotations such as inpatient infectious diseases, outpatient antimicrobial stewardship, and the infectious diseases/HIV clinic. These opportunities reflect the institution’s deep commitment to advancing patient care through specialized services. The VA’s dedication to continuing education and its reputation for excellence in patient care inspires me and I look forward to providing high-quality care to our country’s veterans and enhancing their health and quality of life.
