Honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice

Memorial Day is our opportunity to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
Each day, every Veterans Health Indiana employee is dedicated to serving Veterans, providing care, benefits and services. And on this solemn day, the service of our fallen heroes underscores the importance of VA’s mission. Their memory endures and strengthens VA’s commitment to serving those who have served.
Ways to observe
This year Memorial Day falls on May 26. Consider these ways to observe:
- Visit a VA national cemetery: NCA provides serene final resting places for our nation’s heroes. Attend an NCA event or visit a VA national cemetery on your own to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those interred there.
- Participate in local ceremonies: Many communities host Memorial Day events, including parades, wreath-laying ceremonies and moments of silence.
- Pause during the National Moment of Remembrance: The annual event asks Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, to stop for one minute to remember those who died in service to the nation.
- Visit the Veterans Legacy Memorial: The virtual memorial is the nation’s first and largest online memorial space dedicated to Veterans. Learn more about VLM.
