Now Enrolling Participants in the COOP Research Study

An inclusive and diverse group of happy elderly individuals.

Have you ever had colorectal polyps removed? If the answer is YES, you may be eligible to enroll in the COOP Research Study

Veterans Health Indiana is asking for your help to better understand the prevention of colorectal cancer. We do this by comparing the results of a traditional colonoscopy to an at-home fecal matter test, also known as a FIT.

Participants Must:

  • Be 65 to 82 years old
  • Speak English or Spanish
  • Have a history of colorectal polyps
  • Have not had colorectal cancer
  • Do not have inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn’s or Ulcerative Colitis)
  • Do not have a genetic colon cancer syndrome (e.g.  Lynch, Familial Adenomatous Polyposis  (FAP), or Serrated Polyposis Syndrome)

Participants will be asked to:

  • Complete a yearly survey, which should take 15-20 minutes to complete, for up to 6 years.
  • Complete a colonoscopy, with follow-up as directed by your physician

OR

  • Complete a yearly at-home FIT for up to 6 years
