ICVAHCS WATERLOO VET FEST TO DISCUSS SUICIDE AND VA RESOURCES

Waterloo , IA — The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) will partner with local community groups to spread awareness on suicide prevention and Veteran resources during their Waterloo Vet Fest on Wednesday, July 10 at the Grout Museum, located at 306 Washington Street in Waterloo.
The event will be divided into two portions: one for the morning and one for the evening.
The morning portion of the Vet Fest, 9 am – 11 am, will be focused on suicide prevention. The VA invites Veterans and their caregivers to screen Suicide: The Ripple Effect, followed by open conversations on how to support Veterans in need. ICVAHCS will have suicide prevention and other resources for caregivers and Veterans.
The evening portion of the Vet Fest, 4 pm – 7 pm, will be an open house on the first floor of the Grout Museum offering community and federal resources for Veterans and their loved ones such as healthcare benefits and enrollment, Disabled American Veterans, mental health, homelessness, and more. Staff will be available at both events to answer questions and assist Veterans in signing up for healthcare and understanding claims.
