Spring Hiring Fair Draws Hundreds of Applicants in Mission to Serve Veterans
The G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center hosted a spring hiring fair on Saturday, April 22, to aid in the V.A.'s mission to hire 52,000 new employees during the fiscal year 2023.
Nearly 300 applicants participated in the event dedicated to filling positions ranging from registered nurses for long-term care to medical technologists, medical support assistants, and histo-pathology technologists.
The event was scheduled to kick off at 9:00 a.m., but applicants lined up as early as 7:30 a.m. to be among the first to interview to join the nearly 2,000 dedicated staff at the G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center. Throughout the event, members of the facility's leadership and human resources teams were available to conduct interviews, provide tours, and issue tentative job offers to top candidates.
Gladys Navarro-Rodriguez, Associate Nurse Executive for the Community Living Center, was thrilled to extend tentative job offers to five new registered nurses who will join G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center's five-star Community Living Center in the coming weeks. "We are excited to welcome these new nurses to our team and look forward to providing the best possible care to our Veterans," Navarro-Rodriguez said.
Over 80 tentative job offers were issued on the spot to candidates interested in joining G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center's nearly 2,000 staff members who serve more than 54,000 Veterans throughout central Mississippi and three eastern Louisiana parishes.

(Sonny) Montgomery VAMC and the Columbus, Greenville, Hattiesburg, Kosciusko, McComb, Meridian, and Natchez VA Clinics are all part of the VA Jackson Health Care System which is headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, and provide a variety of medical outpatient services to more than 54,000 Veterans.
