The G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center once again helped spread holiday joy through its annual support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program — a nationwide initiative that has delivered Christmas magic to children since 1947.

The campaign began when the Marine Corps Reserve collected and distributed 5,000 toys to children in Los Angeles. Today, Toys for Tots is one of the nation’s most recognized charitable efforts, ensuring millions of children receive gifts each holiday season.

This year, the Jackson VA community came together in an extraordinary way. With strong participation from the Jackson VA Regional Office and the South Central VA Network (VISN 16), the medical center not only met but surpassed its campaign goal. Through the generosity of employees, Veterans, volunteers, and partners, the team collected 420 toys, 125 bikes, and $120 in cash for children across Mississippi.

“These donations truly reflect the heart and spirit of our VA family,” said Connie Langston, Program Specialist to the Executive Director and this year’s Toys for Tots event coordinator. “Every toy and every bike represents hope, joy, and a reminder that our community always finds a way to support those who need it most.”

On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve arrived at the medical center to gather this year’s contributions — filling their vehicles with an impressive, overflowing collection of holiday cheer.

This year’s results demonstrate the VA’s continued dedication to serving not only Veterans, but the broader communities we are proud to support.
