Dr. Ebony Woods was appointed as the Interim Associate Director of Patient Care Services at Kansas City VA Medical Center on September 30, 2024.

She began her career with the VA in 2010 at Eastern Kansas Health Care System serving in various Nurse Manager roles, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, Intensive Care, Long Term Care, Surgery, and Behavioral Health.  She later served as the Domiciliary Chief and was the Mental Health lead for the implementation of COVID initiatives. In 2021, Dr. Woods accepted the Inpatient Chief Nurse position where she prioritized shared governance, succession planning, and partnerships with academic affiliates. Dr. Woods accepted the detail as the Mental Health Chief Nurse at the Kansas City VA in 2022 and was appointed as the Deputy Associate Director of Patient Care Services in January of 2023.  

Dr. Woods earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Doctor of Nursing practice, Organizational Leadership from the University of Kansas. As an Alumna of the University of Kansas, Ms. Woods served as a clinical adjunct professor and mentor, supporting the growth and development of nursing students. She is recognized for engaging patient and staff concerns while promoting Diversity and Inclusion. 

Dr. Woods believes in maintaining professional competence through evidenced-based practice and has served on numerous committees and workgroups at the local and National level. Her mission is to lead with humility and excellence while mentoring, motivating, and gently guiding others to reach their highest potential personally and professionally.
