On behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), it is a pleasure to wish you a belated happy 90th birthday. We honor our Veterans, and we celebrate your life’s accomplishments.

Our Nation honors your distinguished service as a Captain 03 in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and Post- Vietnam Era and as a recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with two Stars and “V”, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Presidential Unit Citation with one Star, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with three Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with “60” Device, and Good Conduct Medal with five Stars. Americans enjoy the blessings of peace and liberty because of patriots like you who answered the call to defend our Nation. We remain grateful to you and your generation for helping defend democracy and shaping the world we live in today.

The sacrifices you have made, and the accomplishments of your military career are held in the highest esteem. Thank you for your continued commitment to your fellow Veterans as a volunteer at the Kansas City VA Healthcare System and ensuring Veterans receive the care they need and have a positive experience within VA facilities. You play a vital role helping Veterans navigate the hospital environment and guiding them to appointments. VA takes great pride in its outstanding VA Voluntary Service program due to volunteers like you for the many acts of kindness you have bestowed upon our Veterans through your great work. I appreciate your dedication to give back to your community through your work supervising probation and parole officers in the Kansas City area and volunteering with the American Red Cross. You are an inspiration to all those you touch and an example to follow.

I join your VA health care professionals, family, and friends to celebrate you and your service to America. We send warm wishes to you for good health and cheer. Please accept my coin as a token of our gratitude and appreciation. We feel honored to serve you. May God bless you.
