Travel Screening

Veterans who have traveled to Africa within the past 21 days and are experiencing symptoms listed below should contact their primary care provider or report to the Emergency Department immediately.

Been to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or Uganda? Been in contact with a person suspected or confirmed to have Ebola Virus Disease?

AND 

Are you experiencing the following symptoms?

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches (myalgia)
  • Diarrhea Vomiting
  • Unexplained bleeding

Contact their primary care provider or report to the Emergency Department immediately. Be sure to inform your provider or the ED about your recent travel history before arriving at the healthcare facility so appropriate precautions can be taken. 

As the Ebola outbreak in Africa continues to spread, many of our Veterans' travel overseas and are at risk of transmission. A reminder to alert staff of their recent travel will ensure that the virus is contained with early identification and isolation upon arrival.
