VA Long Beach to Host Adaptive Sports Expo

Long Beach , CA — VA Long Beach Healthcare System will host an Adaptive Sports Expo on Friday, June 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center.

WHO: The event is free and open to the public. A special invitation is extended to all Veterans and their family members. No pre-registration is required.
This fun-filled event will provide Veterans with an opportunity to participate in a variety of adaptive sports activities. Activities include golf, cycling, plastic ax throwing, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, boccia, pickle ball, adaptive rock climbing – and more! In addition to sports activities, the expo will feature a DJ and dance party.
The expo will also include a resource fair with more than 30 booths featuring local resources and community partners.
Adaptive sports are a fun way get physical exercise, become part of a community, and develop independent living skills. VA research and clinical experience shows that physical activity is important to maintaining good health and improving overall quality of life. No prior experience is needed to get started.
