Dr. Jared Roush, was appointed as the Acting Deputy Medical Center Director for the VA Long Beach Healthcare System for a 34-day detail effective March 9, 2025.
Dr. Roush is a licensed psychologist and served as the Deputy Chief of the Psychology Service at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System from September 2022. Prior to this position, he served as the Suicide Prevention and Acute Care Psychology Program Manager at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System where he provided oversight of the suicide prevention, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery, inpatient psychology, and peer support programs. Dr. Roush also previously served as a Staff Psychologist/Suicide Prevention Coordinator at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
Dr. Roush holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Texas Tech University and his research in the area of suicide prevention has been widely published in a number of scientific journals. He began his VA career at the South Texas Veterans Healthcare System in San Antonio, Texas where he completed a Doctoral Internship and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Roush is an exceptional leader and a graduate of the VISN 22 Leadership Development Institute. He actively supports leaders across VHA with internal leadership coaching as part of the Associate Coach Development Program through the VHA National Center for Organization Development.
