Robley Rex VA Medical Center held a Town Hall at the Southwest Regional Library

By Stephen Woolverton, Public Affairs Specialist
The Robley Rex VA Medical Center Town Hall, held at the Southwest Regional Library on July 24, 2025, was attended by 32 Veterans and spouses.
Medical Center Director Jo-Ann Ginsberg provided them with updates on the new construction, current improvements to service at the Zorn campus, issues we are currently facing, and processes in place for them to share their compliments or concerns outside of the Town Hall meetings.
During the question-and-answer time, Ms. Ginsberg answered questions answered questions about wayfinding in the new facility, complaints about the call center, and directed specific questions Veterans had to the VA staff who were there to directly assist them. After the Director encouraged everyone not to leave their benefits on the table, two of the many Veterans who spoke to Eligibility & Enrollment received forms to get enrolled for care at Robley Rex VAMC.
“The Robley Rex VA Town Halls help give the VA an opportunity to actively engage with Veterans and family members to address their concerns and build trust by demonstrating our commitment to providing high-quality care and benefits,” said Mark Childress, Robley Rex VA Outreach Coordinator. “These Town Halls are crucial for fostering communication and gathering feedback. Veterans get a direct line of communication with VA leadership, allowing them to get local VA information and can address concerns in person.”
Air Force & Marine Corps Veteran Jack Henderson, who attended with his wife Navy Veteran Lynn Phillips Henderson, drove up from Elizabethtown to the Town Hall and said it was helpful and had a lot of information for them. They were also glad to get a chance to sit down with a person from the VBA to discuss their service claims.
“We just both actually got service-connected here recently, and we found out about this Town Hall on Facebook,” Jack said. “It was good to learn about the new centers. We go to Grayson for Primary Care. We live in E-Town, and hopefully with E-Town coming soon, we can make that switch.”
“I really liked hearing about the new hospital,” Lynn said. “We heard about E-Town. We live in E-Town, so we wanted to know about that. It was just very helpful information.”
Services that provided information and assistance at this Town Hall include Eligibility & Enrollment, Women’s Veterans Program, Community Care, Caregiver Support, Suicide Prevention, Vocational Rehab, My HealtheVet & Telehealth, Homeless Veterans Program, as well as the Veterans Benefits Administration and the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.
