LOUISVILLE, KY - On Wednesday, nearly 300 motorcyclists from the Run For the Wall organization arrived at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center on their annual journey to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Run For the Wall is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with the mission to “promote healing among all Veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all prisoners of war and those missing in action to honor the memory of those killed in action from all wars, and to support our military personnel all over the world.”

Run For the Wall has completed this cross-country journey since 1989. This year’s ride started on May 18 in Ontario, California and plans to arrive in Washington, D.C. this Friday.

For the past 17 years, Keith Turcott has been a chaplain with Run For the Wall. A Veteran himself, Turcott shared with this yearly pilgrimage means to him.

“When I first did this, it was a resurrection of patriotism. Seeing the people at all the stops and supporting the troops that have passed is so inspiring,” Turcott said. “We ride for those that can’t. We remember those that paid a price – whether it was the ultimate price or the price of serving. Stopping at places like this, here in Louisville, we’re really reminded of that.”
