VA Manchester physician receives NHHA 2023 Medical Staff Award

Manchester , NH — The Manchester VA is pleased to announce Dr. Robert Zwolak received honors for his outstanding service to his medical facility and community during an awards ceremony held October 17, 2023.

The New Hampshire Hospital Association (NHHA) highlighted four recipients for their 2023 NHHA Awards of Excellence during their annual meeting.

“The NHHA Awards of Excellence is a competitive selection process across the Granite State, and it comes as no surprise to me that Dr. Zwolak is the Medical Staff Award recipient,” stated Kevin Forrest, medical center director. “Under his leadership, he improved access to care across New Hampshire and ensured VA Manchester ranked in the highest percentile for the best place to work.”

Forrest added, “I offer my sincerest congratulations to Dr. Zwolak and the other award recipients for their significant contributions in the health care field and most importantly the quality of care and health of the patients we all serve.”

Dr. Zwolak, a practicing physician and chief of staff, garnered the high honor of the NHHA Medical Staff Award for his long history of regional and national accomplishments. 

The award presentation highlighted Dr. Zwolak’s achievements, including his support for the next generation of physicians, improved access to specialty care for New Hampshire Veterans living in rural areas, and the expansion of clinical expertise available to patients. 
 
“It was our honor and privilege to recognize the ongoing efforts and leadership of these extraordinary individuals, as they strive to make improvements in health care access, quality and services to support their patients, staff and communities,” stated Ahnen.

Dr. Zwolak was in the company of his colleagues and peers during the awards ceremony.

“I am humbled by this award and very thankful to be a part of the New Hampshire community of health care professionals. Each day I hope to make a difference in the lives of Veterans, their families, and caregivers with exceptional health care while ensuring the next generation of providers can do the same,” shared Zwolak. “The employees at VA Manchester are the foundation for our clinical priorities, and together we accomplish our vital mission.” 

VA Manchester Healthcare System is part of the VA New England Healthcare System which includes eight medical centers, located in the six New England states. Manchester VA is comprised of one main campus located in Manchester and four community-based outpatient clinics located in Conway, Portsmouth, Somersworth, and Tilton. The Portsmouth outpatient clinic is located at Pease Air National Guard Base.
