Celebrating a 100th Birthday Bash For One of Our Veterans!
We had an incredible day at the Marion VA Health Care System’s Mount Vernon Clinic in Illinois, celebrating Mr. John Edward Scrivner as he turned 100 years old! It's not every day we get to honor someone who has lived a whole century.
Mr. Scrivner is a true American hero. During World War II, from 1943 to 1945, he served bravely as a Lieutenant P-47 Pilot in the United States Army Air Corps and the Air Force. He flew planes high in the sky, showing great courage and skill to help defend our country. He graduated from the famous William Field Army Advanced Flying School on December 23, 1944, as part of the proud Class of 1944 J-Pilots.
At his special birthday party, Mr. Scrivner was honored with a beautiful quilt and a special plaque from the current Secretary of the VHA. These gifts were a way to say "thank you" for all he has done. The staff at the Mount Vernon Clinic made tasty snacks and decorated the clinic to create a joyful surprise party.
The most heartwarming moment was when Mr. Scrivner saw his family there to celebrate with him! He was both surprised and overjoyed. His face lit up with happiness, and everyone shared in his joy.
Besides his amazing military service, Mr. Scrivner has always had a strong faith in God, which has guided him throughout his life. He is also known for his incredible bass singing voice. Whether he's singing solo or with a group, his music brings joy to everyone who hears it.
Mr. Scrivner is not only talented but also has a great sense of humor. He loves to make people laugh and can find something funny in almost any situation. His positive attitude and cheerful spirit make him a joy to be around.
Celebrating Mr. Scrivner’s 100th birthday was a true honor. He is a wonderful example of courage, faith, and happiness.
Happy 100th birthday, Mr. Scrivner! May you continue to have many more days filled with blessings, laughter, and special memories.
