PRESS RELEASE

May 16, 2024

Martinsburg , WV — The Martinsburg VA Medical Center announced the recipient of the nationally recognized Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses, Alexis Rogers of Martinsburg.

Rogers has been a nurse for 16 years, spending her entire nursing career at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. She received her Bachelor’s of Nursing from Shepherd University and she currently works in Same Day Surgery at Martinsburg VAMC.

“I’ve always been called to help people and nursing seemed like the natural choice,” said Rogers. “I love working with veterans as a way to give back to the people who have given so much to their country, and I’m honored and privileged to work at the VA.”

The Daisy Nurse Award is a quarterly award given by Martinsburg VAMC for exceptional care. Rogers received the Daisy Nurse Award for January through March 2024.

Nurses are nominated for the Daisy Nurse and Nurse Leader Award by patients, coworkers and staff, which was created in 1999 by the national nonprofit, The Daisy Foundation. Today, the award recognizes the hard work and sacrifice of nurses in 5,400 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing in all 50 states and 35 additional countries and territories.
