Dr. Sandra Marshall was appointed as the Chief of Staff for the VA Maryland Health Care System effective March 11, 2016.
Previously, she served as the Deputy Chief for the VA Maryland Health Care System from 2012-2016.
As the Chief of Staff, Dr. Marshall is responsible for the provision, coordination and supervision of all clinical services at the Baltimore, Loch Raven and Perry Point VA Medical Centers, and five community based outpatient clinics located throughout the state. She serves as an integral member of the executive leadership team for the VA Maryland Health Care System in coordinating the delivery of safe, quality and compassionate care to more than 57,000 Veterans.
Prior to her appointment as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Marshall served as the Director of the Managed Care Clinical Center for the VA Maryland Health Care System, where she was responsible for the oversight of Primary Care, Women’s Health, Dermatology, Audiology and Speech, and Occupational Health. Dr. Marshall, who began her VA career in 1988 as an Ambulatory Care staff physician at the Baltimore VA Medical Center, has provided Primary Care services to hundreds of Veteran patients and was instrumental in the implementation of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model throughout the VA Maryland Health Care System. In her role as a faculty member at the University of Maryland Medical System, she helped to train many medical students, interns, allied health professionals and residents throughout her career.
Dr. Marshall received her Medical Degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she graduated cum laude, and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore VA Medical Center. After completing her residency, she served as the Chief Resident for Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Baltimore VA Medical Center. Dr. Marshall is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
