Miami, FL Phillip Wotton - Veterans of every generation find their stride in adaptive sports

By Bailey Breving, Public Affairs Specialist

After a diving accident left him paralyzed, Wotton arrived at his first Winter Sports Clinic unsure what adaptive sports could offer.

An avid sports enthusiast, he was unsure if adaptive equipment like a sit-ski would offer him the same excitement and thrill he once had. In his own words: “I had no idea how advanced the technology is for adaptive sports.”

Stories like Wotton’s highlight why VA has committed $16 million in grants to expand adaptive sports programming. This video brings that message full circle, showing that across generations, Veterans arrive at the same conclusion: adaptive sports are critical to recovery, connection, and purpose.
