Media invited to cover pair of Juneteenth events at Milwaukee VA

Milwaukee , WI — The Milwaukee VA is inviting media to cover a pair of events celebrating the Juneteenth holiday to take place on the Milwaukee VA campus at 5000 N. National Ave. Please note that both of these events precede the actual federal holiday, which is June 19:
- TIME AND DATE: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5
- LOCATION: Lake Wheeler Pavilion, just north of the VA Medical Center.
- DETAILS: This event, hosted by the DAV, will feature speakers, entertainment and free food (while supplies last)
- SPEAKERS: Jim McLain, Milwaukee VA Medical Center Executive Director; Clayborn Benson, founder of the Wisconsin Black Historical Museum
- ENTERTAINMENT: MC Dr. Kweku Smith, Teju, Oju Drum Ensemble and African Dance Troupe, Valerie B. and V Funk
- FOOD: Pound for Pound and Jess Foods
Milwaukee VA Juneteenth Celebration
- TIME AND DATE: Noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13
- LOCATION: Outside the South Entrance of the VA Medical Center
- DETAILS: This event, hosted by the Special Emphasis Program at the Milwaukee VA, will include food trucks, vendors, games and more
- FOOD: Pops BBQ, Karol’s Kitchen, Baked Dreams
- ENTERTAINMENT: DJ Cheerios, Regina Ivy
- PRESENTATIONS: America’s Black Holocaust Museum griot; 29th Regiment, Company F, U.S. Colored Troops re-enactors.
