Our Creativity, our Stories: developing a powerful personal narrative

In this workshop, you’ll explore how to turn your experience in the Veterans Creative Arts Competition and Festival into compelling advocacy for the creative arts. Lead by volunteer John Capecci, cofounder of Living Proof Advocacy, you’ll learn how to tap the power of your personal stories to help others recognize the importance of the arts individually and to our Veteran community. Capecci will describe how and when personal stories can be powerful tools of advocacy, then he’ll lead a series of writing exercises to help you explore your own advocacy narratives. You’ll leave with a “roadmap” that helps you link personal experiences to various advocacy messages about the creative arts.
