Veterans Day program at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center

PRESS RELEASE

November 6, 2024

Minneapolis , MN — The Minneapolis VA will mark Veterans Day with a program on Friday, Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m. in the Medical Center Main Atrium, One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis.

Highlights of the program include a color guard by the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps Twin Cities Squadron and a performance by the 58-member West Point Glee Club.

The day that we have come to know as Veterans Day began on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. That day an armistice, a formal agreement of warring parties to stop fighting, was signed between the Germans and the Allies ending World War one. Nov. 11 was officially named Veterans Day 70 years ago, in 1954, by Congress to honor American Veterans of all wars.

The Veteran is at the heart of everything we do within the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. Nearly 17% of our work force are Veterans.
