10 years on the road and still rolling
The Minneapolis VA Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) office celebrated their 10th Anniversary in September.
Minneapolis VA VTS began with just two drivers and two busses. Over the years this program has grown and is currently staffed by nine Motor Vehicles Operators (MVO) and has 11 vehicles.
“It's been a pleasure to watch VTS develop and grow into what it is today and I love the dedication that our drivers and scheduler have put into serving our nations hero's,” said Mobility Manager Jacob Chudzik “I know VTS will continue to grow as a program as we continue to get more vehicles each year.”
VTS is designed to ensure that all Veterans have access to care through convenient, safe, and reliable transportation. By providing Veterans with free transportation services to and/or from the medical centers in a multi-passenger van, this service ensures that Veterans who do not have access to transportation options of their own are able to get to appointments and receive the care they have earned.
There are no eligibility requirements and the program primarily serves Veterans that reside in the Twin Cities Metro area. VTS drivers provide a safe and comfortable ride for Veterans and have become known as an integral part of the VA transportation system and one of the most preferred transportation services for our Veterans.
