Here at our Minneapolis VA Medical Center, we encounter remarkable individuals who go above and beyond in their service.

Today, we are proud to shine the spotlight on Doug, one of our first impression volunteers, who has been with us for 13 years and amassed an impressive 4,049 hours of volunteering. Plus, Doug served more than 30 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sgt.

Doug's dedication and commitment have been unwavering, even in the face of personal challenges. Alongside his wife Janet, Doug has faced numerous health issues, yet this has not stopped him from providing invaluable support to Veterans and volunteers alike. Doug's positive attitude along with a bit of humor have made him a role model for others.

"Doug is a good role model for cheerfulness combined with a great sense of humor,” said one of Doug’s nominators. “And his knowledge of the VAMC facility, there is scarcely a question Doug cannot answer. His many years of experience are a great witness to his commitment to serving the Veterans at the Minneapolis VAMC."

As the Masonic representative on the Minneapolis VA Voluntary Service Committee, Doug's impact reaches far beyond his role as a first impression volunteer. He consistently checks in with the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) staff to stay updated on the latest news and developments, ensuring that his colleagues are well-informed and equipped to provide exceptional support to our Veterans.

Doug's service also extended to the Patient Experience Committee, where he provided insightful guidance during his one-year term. Through it all, he has remained professional, friendly, and an invaluable source of knowledge for our team.

We thank Doug for his unwavering dedication, service and commitment to making a difference in our Veterans community.
