Your chance to make a difference

Imagine, if you will, being in a large convention center where Veterans are playing basketball in one corner, softball and pickleball in another, shooting air pistols and throwing cornhole bags all at the same time.
Now, image all the athletes are in wheelchairs. You have just imagined a day in the life at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games.
“The Minneapolis VA Medical Center is excited to be once again hosting the National Veterans Wheelchair Games,” said Minneapolis VA Health Care System Director Patrick Kelly. “In 2005, 498 Veterans from across the U.S. descended on our city and showed that disability is merely a concept but does not define the athleticism and competitive spirit of our Veterans.”
Pulling off a robust week of activities for an anticipated 500 athletes couldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers. This summer, you have the chance to be one of the nearly 3,000 volunteers to make a difference in the life of Veterans at the Games here in Minneapolis, July 17–22, 2025.
Whether you sign up to support guest services, logistics or the execution of an event, your time and energy will make an invaluable difference and give you a front row seat to the largest adaptive sports and rehabilitation event designed exclusively for U.S. military Veterans with disabilities.
The registration window is now open at www.wheelchairgames.org. During registration you’ll be able to select where you’d like to volunteer. Children ages 14-17 can volunteer with a signed parental consent form, while children ages 10-13 may volunteer alongside a parent or guardian.
If you have questions or would like to sign up a group to volunteer, email us at: NVWGvolunteers@va.gov.
Volunteering isn't just an act of kindness—it's a transformative experience that can change lives, including your own. We look forward to seeing you at the Wheelchair Games.
