FORT HARRISON, Mont.— The Montana VA health care system hosted the VISN-19 Leadership Development Institute, Class of 2022, graduation on Sept. 2nd in Helena, Montana.

The VISN 19 Leadership Development Institute is a leader development program aimed at mid-level managers and staff.

“LDI has taught me so much and it's been awesome. I would encourage anyone who's thinking about applying to the program to without a doubt apply,” said Kimberly Fox, LDI Class of 2022 graduate from VA Oklahoma City Health Care System. “I have heard so many successful stories from successful leaders, but more importantly, I've heard stories of missteps and failures. And I've learned that leaders don't have to have all of the answers.”

The goal of LDI is to enhance the leadership skills of high potential employees who are either currently in leadership positions or interested in advancing to leadership positions in the future.

“From speaking with my colleagues and just trying to sum up the LDI experience, I think it comes down to a few things, one being relationships,” said Shane O’Malley, LDI Class of 2022 graduate from VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System. “The relationships you build throughout the VHA, and you know different departments, is going to always result in a better Veteran experience in the community that we have built and networking throughout VISN-19 has been just an incredible experience for all of us. I think we summed it up that, you know, great leaders don't have all the answers, but they often have the relationships and the places to go to find out, you know, and this just added to that wealth of knowledge for all of us and just an excellent experience. I recommend any new leader to go through LDI.”
