Dr. Jennie McClain is the Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
Dr. Jennie McClain, PhD, RN, brings more than 18 years of progressive VA nursing and leadership experience to her role as Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. She previously served as Chief Nurse for Ambulatory Care at the Augusta VA, where she led primary care, CBOCs, Women’s Health, Telehealth, and multiple specialty clinics, driving major improvements in staffing, care coordination, quality outcomes, and access to services.
Throughout her career, Dr. McClain has advanced High Reliability Organization principles, led numerous service expansions, and contributed to VISN- and facility-level committees. She has also held leadership roles in Primary Care, Acute Care, Nursing Education, and clinical operations across several VA facilities. Dr. McClain holds a PhD in Health Administration, a Master of Science in Nursing Education, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Social Work. She is a LEAN Green Belt certified leader, an experienced university faculty member, and an active participant in improving Veteran-centered care across the VA.
