Dr. Annie George is the Associate Director of Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive at VA Northport Medical Center.

Dr. George, is a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience, and assumed the role of Associate Director of Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive in December 2024. She holds a BSN (1999) from Father Muller’s College of Nursing, India, an MS in Nursing (2011), and a Ph.D. in Nursing (2020) from Adelphi University, NY. Dr. George is triple board-certified as a Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC), Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN). She was honored as the 2023 National Nurse Leader of the Year by Press Ganey Associates.

Previously, she was the Corporate Senior Director of Nursing at NYC Health + Hospitals, where she led nursing excellence and research initiatives, securing prestigious designations such as ANCC Pathway to Excellence® and AACN Beacon. She has held leadership roles in private sector organizations, including Northwell Health/Lenox Hill.

A dedicated researcher and educator, Dr. George focuses on tele-critical care, nursing quality, and patient experience. She serves on the advisory board at Hofstra University, is a Ph.D. faculty council member at Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing, and actively contributes to national nursing organizations. Her work has been published in prominent journals, and she has received numerous accolades, including the New York State Senator Pat McGhee Scholarship. Dr. George is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and a Buckley Visiting Scholar at Adelphi University.
