Kathleen Klink, M.D., FAAFP is the Chief, Health Professions Education for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, in Washington DC, where she directs the largest health professions educational portfolio in the United States including over 120,000 trainees annually in more than forty different health professions, as well as over 40,000 physician and dental resident trainees.

Dr. Klink has a wealth of experience in medical education and health care administration. As Chief of Health Professions Education for the Office of Academic Affiliations, she provides subject matter expertise, leadership and guidance regarding educational initiatives and activities. Recent efforts have focused on the Veterans Access Choice and Accountability Act authority to increase graduate medical education by 1500 positions, expansion of mental health professions training, advanced nursing education programs, and support of programs that focus on new models of training in primary care, quality of care and patient safety through development of clinical leaders in needed fields.
