Ezgi Tiryaki, MD, FAAN, ACC, is the Deputy Chief Academic Affiliations Officer for the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA).

Prior to joining OAA, Dr. Tiryaki was a Professor of Neurology and the Associate Chief of Staff for Education for the Minneapolis VA Health Care System (VAHCS), and the Network Academic Affiliations Officer for VISN 23.

Dr. Tiryaki joined the VA in 2014 due to her interest in actively shaping the learning environment within an integrated healthcare system and her desire to foster an interprofessional community of practice. Dr. Tiryaki’s leadership extends to managing people and operations, reflecting her extensive experience in the field. Over the past decade, Dr. Tiryaki has been a teacher and mentor across the entire continuum of medical education, from medical students to mid-career faculty. She has proven experience designing, implementing, and managing education programs in the healthcare setting.

Dr. Tiryaki is on the Board of Directors for the Center for Veterans Research and Education (CVRE). She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Neuromuscular Medicine, EMG, Palliative Care, and Hospice Medicine. Dr. Tiryaki specializes in the interprofessional care of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She served as the neurology residency program director and a formal faculty adviser for the University of Minnesota Medical School and was inducted into the University’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers.

Dr. Tiryaki graduated from Hannover Medical School with a Medical Doctorate Degree. She completed her residency in internal medicine and neurology and a fellowship in clinical electrophysiology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and she received her executive leadership coaching degree from Georgetown University.
