National Academic Affiliations Council (NAAC)
The National Academic Affiliations Council (NAAC) advises the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) leadership on all matters affecting relationships between VA and the health professions community. This 14-member council recommends ways to further enhance the largest public-private partnership in VA’s history and a cornerstone of U.S. health professions education. The Council’s deep understanding of the inter-dependence of patient care, education and research guides strategic planning to reshape the VA health care system for continued excellence.
The Council conducts its work through public meetings and submits periodic progress reports to VA leadership. Governed by a charter, the Council examines all aspects of VA’s relationships with the academic community and recommends proposals for policy, regulatory and legislative changes.
