Paul B. Greenberg, MD, MPH

Acting Chief Academic Affiliations Officer

Paul B. Greenberg, MD, MPH, is the Acting Chief Academic Affiliations Officer, VA where he oversees the largest health professions education program in the United States, including approximately 120,000 trainees annually in more than 40 different health professions. Previously, he served as the Acting Deputy Chief Academic Affiliations Officer and as the Chief of Health Professions Education for the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA), VHA. Martin Eason, MD, JD

Acting Deputy Chief Academic Affiliations Officer

Martin Eason, MD, JD, is the VA’s Acting Deputy Chief Academic Affiliations Officer, overseeing operations and strategies for the nation’s largest health professions education program. He continues to serve as the Director of the Oversight & Compliance Unit for the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA), VHA where he provides oversight and guidance on VHA academic policies to ensure VA’s mission “to educate for VA and the Nation.” Read Dr. Eason’s full biography.

Karen M. Sanders, MD

Senior Advisor

Karen M. Sanders, MD, OAA’s Senior Advisor, provides guidance on policy, regulatory and statutory issues. Prior to being named Senior Advisor in 2021, Dr. Sanders served OAA for 19 years in a variety of roles, the most recent as Acting Chief Officer and Deputy Chief Officer. Over 42 years in VHA, she has served as a subject matter expert on Mandatory Training and has fulfilled multiple other roles at all levels of the administration.

Prior to being named Senior Advisor in 2021, Dr. Sanders served as Deputy Chief Academic Affiliations Officer for the VA for 15 years. She also serves as a subject matter expert on Mandatory Training and fulfills other key roles in the VHA. Read Dr. Sander’s full biography.
