What's Changed?

Notification of VA Acquisition Manual (VAAM) Update Number 2021-07 to VAAM Parts M813, M814, and M816

Purpose: The purpose of this Acquisition Policy Flash is to notify the VA acquisition workforce of the issuance of revisions to VAAM parts M813 and M816 to change simplified procedures and approval thresholds for certain commercial items (FAR 13.500) due to an inflation adjustment of acquisition related thresholds; and part M814 to revise procedures for mistakes in bids.

VAAR/VAAM Parts Impacted: VAAM parts M813, M814, and M816.

Effective Date: February 5, 2021.

Background: A final rule was issued at 85 FR 62485 on October 2, 2020 to amend the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) to further implement the statute which requires an adjustment every five years of statutory acquisition-related thresholds for inflation. Due to these adjustments, certain VAAM M813 and M816 thresholds are revised. VAAM M814 provides updated procedures on mistakes in bids.

Applicability: This Acquisition Policy Flash applies to all VA acquisition workforce members.

Action Required: The VA acquisition workforce shall comply with the requirements of the published VAAM Update Number 2021-07.
