OVAHCS to Honor Native Veterans and Staff at Native Honoring Ceremony

Orlando , FL — The Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) is proud to announce the upcoming Native Honoring Ceremony, taking place at the Lake Baldwin VA Clinic located at 5201 Raymond St. Orlando Fla, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

This meaningful celebration aims to honor and recognize the invaluable contributions of Native American and Alaskan Native employees and Veterans. Attendees will experience a rich cultural program, with highlights including a performance by the Medicine Horse Singers, a renowned host drum group. 

The ceremony will also feature guest speaker Mr. Gregorio Kishketon, who serves as the Native American/Alaskan Native Liaison and Staff Advisor in the Office of the Secretary of the VA at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office, within the Center for Minority Veterans. Mr. Kishketon will share insights and experiences from his role, emphasizing the importance of representation, cultural respect, and services for Native communities within the VA.

“The Native Honoring Ceremony is a special opportunity for us to celebrate the deep connections and contributions of our Native American and Alaskan Native colleagues and Veterans,” said Lynn Brownfield, staff nurse at the Orlando VA Healthcare System. “It’s a chance to come together, reflect, and show our respect for their service and heritage.”

This special event reflects the Orlando VA Healthcare System’s commitment to honoring the diverse heritage and service of all Veterans and staff.
