Derek D Szafranski Phd, MBA

Dr. Szafranski originally joined OVAHCS in May 2022 as the Assistant Medical Center Director. Prior to joining OVAHCS, Dr. Szafranski served as the Acting Assistant Medical Center Director at the Ralph H. Johnson (RHJ) VAHCS. While at RHJ, he also served in a variety of mental health positions, including staff psychologist, Section Chief and Division Chief. Dr. Szafranski completed his PhD at the University of Houston and clinical internship at the National Center for PTSD at the Boston VAMC. He is also a graduate of the VA Southeast Network Clinical Executive Training Program (CETP), VA Executive Health Care Leadership Development Program (HCLDP), Leadership Orlando and earned his board certification in healthcare management by becoming a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) in 2023.
