Jake Fong, MBA, FACHE, CSSBB, FACP/PM III has been detailed to the position of Acting Deputy Director for the Orlando VA Healthcare System.

Mr. Fong comes to us from the National Specialty Care Program Office, where he served as the Director for Business Operations (Chief Operating Officer equivalent). In this role, Mr. Fong oversees the business operations functions, including Human Resources, Fiscal/Budget, Contracting, Actions & Correspondences, Memorandum of Agreements, Timekeeping, and all employee maintenance items for over 23 National Specialty Care Service Programs with an operating budget of $650+ Million supporting 350+ employees. Mr. Fong is an enterprise leader with over 22 years of proven experience in the nation’s largest integrated healthcare system having worked in various capacities at the VA Central Office, Veterans Integrated Service Network, and VA Medical Center levels including as Associate Director for VA Long Beach Healthcare System, Acting Assistant nDirector for VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System, Chief Financial Officer for Stratton VA Medical Center, VISN Systems Redesign Officer for VISNs 18, 11, and 10, and as Senior Healthcare Program Manager for VHA Office of Healthcare Transformation 

Mr. Fong received his Master of Business Administration in Health Systems Administration from the Graduate College of Union University in June 2004 and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in May 2000. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, VHA Improvement Advisor, VHA Certified Mentor, VHA Prosci Change Management Practitioner, and certified in Senior Level Federal Acquisition Center Program Project Management (FACP/PM) Level III. 

Mr. Fong is a Senior Fellow and former Co-Coach with the Partnership for Public Service’s Excellence in Government Fellows Program and completed the VHA Health Care Leadership Development Program in 2018, Leadership VA in 2019, the Interagency Institute for Federal Health Leaders in 2024, and the VA Acquisition Academy Senior Acquisition Leadership Training in 2026. In addition, he completed the Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN) Senior Executive Service Development Program in 2021 and served as AAGEN Membership Chair (2021 – 2024) and Board of Directors (2024 – present). He is also the VA FAPAC (Federal Asian Pacific American Council) Chapter President, and a Member of the VA ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives) Regents Advisory Committee. 

Mr. Fong is a native New Yorker, raised in Brooklyn, New York, and is happily married to his wife Tracy, where they met in graduate school. They have two teenage boys, Aiden, who is 16, and Ethan, who is 13. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis and traveling while doing home improvement around the house. Mr. Fong often advocates that his most important priorities are family, health, and happiness.
