Thomas J. McGrath is the Director of the Center for Verification and Evaluation (CVE) where he is responsible for accurate and timely verifications for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses under the Veterans First Verification Program.

Mr. McGrath is a 30-year United States Army Veteran where he served in various command and staff positions. He retired as a Colonel and received numerous awards and decorations including those for two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Before joining the Department of Veterans Affairs, Mr. McGrath worked for Lockheed Martin as a Senior Military Analyst and Project Manager in support of the Joint Counter-Improvised Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO). He began his VA career as a program analyst in the Conference Travel Reporting Office.

In 2014 Mr. McGrath moved to the Office of the Secretary where he served as the Director of Mission Operations and developed the strategic travel plan for the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Emergency Operations Planning.

Mr. McGrath hails from South Boston, MA and holds a Master of Science in Administration degree from Central Michigan University.
