Daniel Kahikina Akaka to Replace Leeward Community Based Outpatient Clinic

Honolulu , HI — Honolulu, Hawaii—VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS) is excited to announce the opening of the new Daniel Kahikina Akaka VA Clinic at 91-1051 Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenue in Kapolei.
Staff who were at our Leeward Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) at 91-2135 Port Weaver Road, Suite 501 in Ewa Beach will move to the new Daniel K. Akaka VA Clinic. Veterans who were previously seen at the Leeward CBOC will be able to see the same provider they were assigned to the Leeward CBOC at this new location. The first patient at the Daniel K. Akaka VA Clinic will be seen on April 8, 2024, with a gradual increase in services and appointments though the end of the calendar year.
We will see our last patient at the Leeward CBOC on April 5, 2024.
Completed on budget and on time, the new Daniel K. Akaka VA Clinic is a $130 million, 88,675 square-foot multi-specialty outpatient clinic will provide primary and mental health care, x-ray, laboratory and diagnostic services, a pharmacy, and specialty care for Veterans on Oʻahu, and Veterans throughout the Pacific Islands who come here for care.
“The new Daniel Kahikina Akaka VA Clinic will serve Veterans for decades to come,” said Dr. Robinson. “It is our next step towards providing safe, compassionate, and quality care to those who have worn the cloth of our nation.”
A partnership with Xeal Energy has provided Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations on site, as part of the project’s commitment to sustainability. There are 528 parking spots total, of which 43 are reserved for disabled Veterans and 19 are for EV charging. Veterans with appointments at the clinic will be able to utilize our Valet Parking, and Veterans without transportation will be able to use our Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) which will now have two vehicles based at the new clinic to allow for pickup of Veterans from further west than was previously available.
