Jon Fuller has been appointed as the Interim Chief of Staff at VA Palo Alto health care, effective October 20, 2024.

In this role, he oversees clinical operations for one of the VA's most complex health care systems, encompassing specialized programs, research, and graduate medical education.

In his permanent role, he serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Extended Care and Palliative Medicine Service at VA Palo Alto health care. With over 32 years of experience in Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at VA, he has held numerous positions. He represented VHA on a six-month detail in Washington, DC, as the VA representative to the White House Conference on Aging Planning Office. Additionally, he has dedicated several months on detail to VA Central Office, including roles as the Acting Director of Home and Community-Based Care and as the Interim Chief Consultant for the Geriatrics and Extended Care program office within the Office of Patient Care Services.

He has also been detailed to the San Francisco VA as the ACOS for Geriatric, Palliative, and Extended Care Services. For over a decade, he has represented VHA nationally as a member of the Advisory Council to The Joint Commission. Additionally, he has served as the GEC lead for VISN 21 for more than 11 years. His exceptional contributions in geriatrics were recognized with the national VACO GEC Marsha Goodwin-Beck Award for Leadership in Geriatrics. Furthermore, he holds the position of Clinical Professor of Medicine (affiliated) at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
